Police insist palkhi pilgrims bring only 'fit' vehicles
Updated On: 27 June, 2013 06:51 AM IST | | Sandip Kolhatkar
Cops have formed two control rooms with monitoring systems where people can call to report crimes
To minimise incidents of vehicles breaking down during the palkhi procession from Alandi and Dehu to Pandharpur, the rural police has asked the warkaris (pilgrims) who come in big jeeps, trucks and tractors to get fitness certificates from the regional transport authorities of the respective talukas before hitting the road for the procession.

Hawk eye: To curb crime during the procession cops will be deployed at various points of the procession to keep an eye on miscreants. Representation Pic
