Neighbours threaten martyr's brother to illegally supply electricity from the awarded petrol pump It wasn't a case of silver lining for Dileep Kumar. The brother of Delhi police ASI, Rampal Singh, who died fighting terrorists inside the Parliament on December 13, 2001, was toiling hard to run his petrol pump on rented electricity from a dhaba in Palwal. But he soon got into trouble with the dhaba owners, in spite of getting legal power connection for the pump, which was allotted to his family after his brother's demise.u00a0u00a0 "Earlier, we used to buy electricity from the dhaba, running on a generator, opposite our petrol pump at Mankola village in Palwal. But on April 1, we got our electricity connection for the petrol pump and we stopped buying power from the dhaba," said Dileep. "The dhaba ownersu00a0-- Joginder, Dallu and Harenderu00a0-- expected us to reciprocate and we somehow allowed them to draw electricity for a few days. But when the power officials warned us to stop supplying electricity through illegal means, we were left with no option but to refuse the demands of the dhaba owners," added Dileep. However, the neighbours started threatening Dileep and insisted on him supplying power from the same connection. After much persuasion the police registered a complaint and that is when all hell broke lose. "Initially, the police didn't do anything. But once they registered my complaint, the dhaba owners started threatening my family and me. They said they would beat me if I refused their demands. They said if I don't let them draw power from the same connection, they would kill me and will shut down the petrol pump," explained Dileep. "I even approached Palwal SSP, Sanjay Kumar, and he assured that he would take action against the culprits. But despite all this, the trio continue to trouble us and even abuse us by passing caste remarks," added Dileep. When contacted, a police officer said that they are investigating the case and the culprits are reportedly absconding after the incident.u00a0u00a0 True cop ASI Ram Pal Singh (38), a native of Akharpur village in Haryana, joined the Delhi Police in December 1984 and was posted at the Vice-President's house since July 2001. He was working as a driver with Delhi police and was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously. He is survived by his wife, Bhawan Devi and a son, Karam Vir Singh. A petrol pump was allotted to his family which is being run by his younger brother, Dileep in Mankola village.
