Tegan and Sara, one of the edgiest acts to emerge out of Canada will perform in India next week. Band member Tegan Quin tells us how she and her identical twin work their sound

It's close to midnight and Tegan and Sara have an early flight to catch to India. Guitarist and vocalist Tegan Quin's email is cheery and filled with exclamation marks. The idea of Vivek Shraya, Canadian indie artist of Indian origin opening for the band brings on the comment: "We are thrilled to have Vivek with us.



He's a babe and he's so talented!" The gifted indie act known for their choppy riffs, tinny vocals and brooding lyrics have found fans in artists across genresu00a0-- from Paramore to DJ Tiesto. Tiesto remixed their track Feel It In My Bones which was included in his 2009 album Kaleidoscope. For a band that has been touring non-stop this year including an appearance at Coachella and Glastonbury, Tegan and Sara are unassuming. Tegan admits on the band's blog: "Thursday we leave for India. I am nervous and excited." Excerpts from an email interview:

You've been at many big fests this year including the Sasquatch Music fest.u00a0 Are fests a great place to collaborate?
We certainly meet a lot of artists at festivals and love collaborating. I think festivals give artists a chance to collaborate and meet one another. I think often times collaborations happen much more organically than
at festivals.
