Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 PM on Sunday, according to an official announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). However, the PMO did not disclose the subject of the upcoming address.

A brief post on X (formerly Twitter) from the PMO stated: “PM Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation at 5 PM this evening.”

The timing of the address is notable—it comes on the eve of Navratri and just before the implementation of revised GST rates, which are expected to lower the prices of numerous goods.

In the past, Modi has used national addresses to deliver major announcements. Notable instances include the 2016 demonetisation, the 2019 Anti-Satellite Missile (ASAT) test, and several addresses during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he guided the nation on lockdowns and public health measures.

With the topic of today’s address still under wraps, speculation is rife about its potential significance.
