Protesting farmers torch police jeep as fresh clash erupts at Kolhapur

Protesting sugarcane farmers who were demanding better price for their crop torched a police jeep and pelted stones in a fresh clash with cops in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra today.

According to media reports farmers clashed with police personnel when the latter baton charged to disperse the protesters while they were staging a roadblock.
Additional companies of the State Reserve Police Force have been rushed as agitating farmers have blocked roads at various places in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts.
