After the police, it's the Transport Department's turn to crack a whip on erring emission centers.
According to officials, many emission testing centers are lax in following norms. People get emission certificates even though the vehicle doesn't fall under 'Pollution Under Control' (PUC), by simply paying a bribe.
To curb these malpractices, the department has decided to network all centres across the state, and monitor them from the department headquarters.
