A constable, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed his car into the gate of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/pune-traffic-updates-pune-traffic-police-announce-new-no-parking-zones-in-seven-divisions-of-city-check-complete-details-here-23647668" rel="nofollow">Pune Police Commissioner</a> Amitesh Kumar's bungalow, following which he was detained, officials said on Wednesday.
The officials, while briefing about the incident, said that no one was injured in the incident that took place on Tuesday evening at the commissioner's official residence in the Cantonment area, as per PTI.&nbsp;
They further added, &ldquo;The police constable was alone in his car when he drove it into the gate of the commissioner's house,&rdquo; as cited by PTI.&nbsp;
Kumar while briefing the media further about the incident, said, "The constable was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He has a history of disciplinary issues and has been involved in several offences earlier. He was suspended in 2025 and reinstated in 2026," according to PTI.
The accused, who is also allegedly suffering from <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-anxiety-stress-and-low-mood-top-mental-health-concerns-in-india-survey-finds-23655130" rel="nofollow">mental health issues</a>, has been taken into custody, and further action is being initiated, police said. &nbsp;
<h2>Three vehicles collide on Patlipada Bridge; chemical tanker overturns&nbsp;</h2>
In a separate incident, a truck carrying 20,000 litres of Propylheptanol chemical overturned after a three-vehicle accident on Ghodbunder Road in Thane West. The incident happened during the early hours of Wednesday, November 4.
The officials present at the incident spot said that one person was injured in the accident, which took place near Patlipada Bridge at around 2:44 am.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-three-vehicles-collide-on-patlipada-bridge-chemical-tanker-overturns-no-casualties-reported-23658380" rel="nofollow">Disaster Management Cell</a>, the accident occurred when a vehicle travelling from Thane towards Ghodbunder lost control while ascending Patlipada Bridge and rammed into the road divider.
<h2>Multiple vehicles collide</h2>
A Tata Intra pickup tempo, carrying vegetables and travelling from Kalwa to Ovala, also hit the divider. An Ashok Leyland truck, which was coming from behind and was travelling from JNPT towards Gujarat with 20,000 litres of propylheptanol chemical, subsequently rammed into the divider and overturned.
The tempo driver, identified as Salim, sustained injuries in the collision. Traffic police personnel shifted him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
<h2>No casualties reported</h2>
Following the accident, a streetlight pole was also knocked down. The authorities removed the fallen pole and spread soil over the road after oil spilled from the overturned tanker trailer.
Personnel from the city traffic police, Kasarvadavali Police Station, Chitalsar Police Station, the fire brigade and the Disaster Management Cell rushed to the spot.
A rescue vehicle, a utility vehicle and staff from the Thane Municipal Corporation's electricity department were also deployed.
