The Wanawadi police have booked one Machchindra Vasant More, a resident of Katraj, on charges of duping a wine shop owner of Rs 2 lakh by promising admission to his daughter in Lower KG at a prestigious school in Camp. More has been booked under section 420 of the IPC.
Police Inspector V A Sawant said, “More had promised to help Nilesh Tukaram Gawali (36), a resident of Wanawadi, secure admission for his daughter at St Andrews school in Camp. More had initially demanded Rs 1 lakh from Gawali for this.”
“In December, Gawali gave Rs 80,000 to More and then another Rs 20,000 a few days later. Despite this, Gawali could not get admission for his daughter. When the complainant realised he had been duped by More, he approached us and lodged a complaint,” said Sawant.
“More could have cheated many other citizens,” he added.
