Brahme was employed as a project manager at a private firm in the southern African nation for the last six years. The deceased&rsquo;s wife Sunita works in Bhosari and their two children live with her. At the time the victims were returning in a car from the birthday party of a senior officer from the company. The injured persons have been identified as Santosh Pande and Girish Kumar, both natives of Bangalore. On reaching their accommodation, they alighted from the vehicle and started walking, when seven armed robbers allegedly opened fire on them. Pande and Kumar were hit on their legs and hands, while Brahme was hit by bullets on his chest and head. One of his colleagues managed to flee from the spot. Onlookers rushed them to the hospital, where doctors declared Brahme dead on arrival. According to the local news coverage, preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased was shot when he was trying to rescue a colleague who had pinned one of the robbers to the ground. The offenders, who are yet to be nabbed, managed to get away with three cellphones, and P10,000 (Rs 77,057) in cheque and about P2,000 (Rs 15,411) in cash. Twist of fate Before going abroad for work, Brahme used to run a milk business in Shirur. His contract with the company ended in February and he was supposed to return home. The firm, however, renewed his contract for two years and he went back to Botswana in March. &ldquo;Had the company not recommenced his agreement, my brother would have been alive,&rdquo; said Madhusudan.
