In response to a video surfacing online depicting students chanting slogans such as "Strike for Babri," the Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi witnessed a precautionary deployment of police personnel on Monday.
The security measure coincided with the Ram temple consecration in Ayodhya. The idol was erected at the historic site of the 16th Century Babri Masjid, demolished in 1992.

Authorities stated that the police presence outside the university was a preventive action, considering both the Ram temple consecration ceremony and the upcoming Republic Day. While it was reported that a protest was organized within the campus, the situation remained peaceful outside.
The administration of Jamia Millia Islamia said that academic activities proceeded without disruption despite the protest. An official from the university clarified that the slogans were raised by only two to three students, and classes and examinations continued as usual.
Responding to inquiries about detentions, a police official stated that no individuals were detained in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, the new Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on Monday, an event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who said it marked the advent of a new era.
Lakhs of people watched the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony on television at their homes and in neighbourhood temples, becoming part of the historic event held just months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Along with the scrapping of Article 370 that gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir and the implementation of a uniform civil code, building a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya has been on the BJP's agenda for decades.
Army helicopters showered flower petals on the newly constructed Janmabhoomi temple as the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony took place. And celebrations broke out in parts of this Uttar Pradesh temple town with people singing and dancing.
"Today, our Ram has arrived. After a long wait for ages, our Ram has arrived. Our Ram Lalla will no longer live in a tent. Our Ram Lalla will stay in a magnificent temple," Modi said in his address that followed the consecration, which also marked the inauguration of the temple.
He recalled there were times when some people said the country would be on fire if the Temple was built.
"I would urge those people to rethink. Ram is not fire but energy. Ram is not a dispute, but a solution. Ram is not just ours but belongs to everyone. Ram is not just the present, but eternity," he said. (with inputs from agencies)
