Maoists-affected Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra on Monday marked Republic Day 2026 with pride and patriotism, police officials said.

The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Office of the Superintendent of Police and Police Headquarters in Gadchiroli on January 26, 2026.


Senior police officers, personnel and members of the public participated in the celebrations, they said.



The event was attended by Superintendent of Police Neelotpal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) M. Ramesh, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Gokul Raj G., Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations) Vishal Nagargoje and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gadchiroli Suraj Jagtap.

On the eve of Republic Day, 31 police officers and personnel from Gadchiroli Police Force received the President’s Police Gallantry Medal. During the ceremony, Superintendent of Police Neelotpal presented certificates of appreciation to the medal recipients.

Certificates were also awarded to 10 police personnel who received accelerated promotions under orders of the Special Inspector General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations), Nagpur.

Neelotpal praised the courage and dedication of the officers involved in anti-Maoist operations and extended Republic Day greetings to all present. He later met families of martyred police personnel and listened to their concerns.

At the Gadchiroli Police Headquarters, Republic Day was celebrated by unfurling the National Flag by Co-Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli district, Advocate Ashish Jaiswal.

In the presence of dignitaries, Gadchiroli Police personnel and school students presented an impressive march past, thrilling demonstrations and cultural programmes.

Celebrations at newly established police units

Republic Day was also celebrated at newly established police stations and outposts, including Nelgunda, Kavande, Tumarkothi and Phulnar. National flags were unfurled and sweets were distributed among students and villagers.

On January 24, 2026, Republic Day was celebrated for the first time at the newly established and remote Police Outpost Binagunda. The event was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Aheri Kartik Madhira, Deputy Commandant of 09 Battalion CRPF Yogendra Dhakode, SDPO Bhamragad Amar Mohite, villagers and school students from surrounding villages.

The National Flag was also unfurled at Vinoba Primary Ashram School in Binagunda village in the presence of senior officers, teachers, medical staff and students.

During the programme, a Class II student, Aditya Podadi, presented the Maharashtra Geet in a patriotic atmosphere.

Maoist memorial demolished

On the same occasion, a Maoist memorial, which was considered a symbol of fear and terror in Binagunda village, was demolished. The operation was carried out by the BDDS squad, C-60 unit and police personnel from the Binagunda outpost in the presence of senior officers.

Republic Day celebrated across district

Republic Day was also celebrated for the first time at the Tumarkothi Police Station, which was established on December 19, 2025. Police officers, personnel and villagers unfurled the National Flag and distributed sweets to school children.

Across Gadchiroli district, Republic Day was celebrated with flag hoisting at all police stations, sub-stations, outposts and Sub-Divisional Police Officer offices, with active participation from local villagers.
