Lagoo declared the recipient on the birth anniversary of his late son Tanveer. &ldquo;Karnad has contributed to theatre enormously since the 1960s through his classic plays like &lsquo;Tughlak&rsquo;, &lsquo;Yayati&rsquo;, &lsquo;Nagmandal&rsquo;, &lsquo;Haivadan&rsquo;,&rdquo; said Lagoo.u00a0 <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/nov/Roopwedh.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 531px;" /> &ldquo;Along with Karnad, Pradeep Vaidya would also be honoured with the Tanveer Natyadharmi Award. Veteran drama and film director Dr Jabbar Patel will preside over the function scheduled for December 9 at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagriha in Kothrud,&rdquo; said Lagoo. Karnad who will be visiting the city for two days will also perform at &lsquo;Kathayatra&rsquo;, which will take place at Balgandharv Rangmandir on December 8. Swati Raje, Bhasha Foundation president and chief organiser of the event, said, &ldquo;Along with many national personalities from the field of writers and performers, Karnad will talk to the audience on &lsquo;Adgulya Madgulyacha Goshti&rsquo; (traditional stories told by women in their kitchens). This would be the first of a kind unique performance by Karnad in the city.&rdquo; Meanwhile, the PMC too wants to support &lsquo;Kathayatra&rsquo;. &ldquo;We are looking to provide the Balgandharv theatre free of cost to the organisers, which would only be possible after passing a resolution at the Standing Committee meeting,&rdquo; said Naresh Zurmure, additional commissioner (General) PMC. Karnad was recently in the news for his blazing attack on litterateur V S Naipaul for his views on Muslims in India. Karnad described the Nobel Laureate as &ldquo;tone deaf&rdquo; and an &ldquo;unreliable&rdquo; writer of non-fiction at a literature festival in Mumbai. u00a0
