A dental awareness camp coinciding with World No Tobacco Day is being organised for auto rickshaw drivers by the Deputy Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Navi Mumbai today. The objective behind the drive is to make auto drivers aware of the dangers of smoking and tobacco consumption.

Earlier, an NGO had been trying to involve auto drivers in a campaign against tobacco-related diseases but the response was dismal. “We got to know that NGOs were finding it very difficult to spread awareness among auto rickshaw drivers. So we decided to organise a health camp for the drivers of Navi Mumbai wherein dental checkups will be conducted free of cost,” said Sanjay Raut, deputy regional transport officer at Navi Mumbai RTO.
