Says Ramesh Kumar, Sajjan's brother, who is contesting from South Delhi after Sajjan lost the party ticket in the aftermath of shoe-gate on P Chidambaram
For years Ramesh Kumar has seen elder brother and veteran Delhi Congress leader Sajjan Kumar waging many an electoral battle. It is his turn now.
Walking under the shadow of his brother, Kumar has a very close view of the Delhi politics. He would have been managing the polls for the big brother yet again but then the shoe did the trick.
In the aftermath of the shoe hurling incident by journalist Jarnail Singh the Congress backtracked on the candidature of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar both accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
One time MLA from Shahbad Daulatpur constituency in northwest Delhi, Ramesh is confident of a thumping win.
In an exclusive chat with MiD DAY's Surender Sharma Ramesh talked about his poll plans and 'bhaiya' Sajjan Kumar.
Why the people of South Delhi should elect you?
I know each and every worker and resident of the area. I along with my brother Sajjan Kumar have been serving the people of the area for the past 32 years. Though some localities are new to the constituency after delimitation it will not affect our bond with the people.
What are the issues you are taking up with your voters?
u00a0I am fighting the parliamentary elections for the first time. But in 1998, I had fought an assembly election and also won it. I have been in politics for the past 32 years. With the blessings of my elder brother, Sajjan Kumar, I have been serving the people of south Delhi for many years.u00a0
