Sangli: The police filed a complaint against Nationalist Congress Party MLA Jitendra Awhad today under Section 143, Section 148 and Section 153 A of the Indian Penal Code, a police official said here today.

Meanwhile, a partial shut down (bandh) was observed today to protest against Awhad who had allegedly made insulting remarks against Sambajirao Bhide, the founder of the Shivapratisthan organisation, the police official said.

The shut down was called by the Sambhaji Brigade, the Maratha Sewa Sangh and the Samata Parishad on Sunday evening. Shivapratisthan activists also organised a protest rally in Sangli city today.
