Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday demanded action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, including his suspension and legal proceedings, after a report raised questions about decisions taken during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Reacting to an Indian Express report that said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had objected to certain decisions related to the SIR process, Raut alleged that the electoral process in India had been compromised. He also alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) functions under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
