In a major rescue operation, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), with assistance from the forest department, successfully rescued 22 individuals who had gone missing along the Neelkanth road in the Rishikesh region of Dehradun district, reported ANI.
According to Uttarakhand SDRF, "Upon receiving information about a group of 22 people getting lost on Neelkanth road under the jurisdiction of Police Station Laxman Jhula, a rescue team was immediately dispatched from SDRF Dhalwala under the leadership of Additional Sub Inspector Mahavir Chauhan to the spot. With the help of the forest team, the said 22 people were brought safely to Bhimgoda Barrage and handed over to the district police."

In another incident on Sunday, following reports of severe waterlogging in Indira Colony, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office in the Bajpur region of Udham Singh Nagar district quickly deployed the SDRF team to the location for rescue operations.
The rescue personnel are currently stationed at the site, where the water level in the Levada River is gradually going down. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, according to ANI.

In a significant move, the Uttarakhand government has secured approval for a ₹125 crore project from the central government to tackle landslides in the state. The initiative has been pushed forward under the active guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, reported ANI.

In its initial phase, a fund of Rs 4.5 crore has been sanctioned to carry out exploration activities and prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Home Minister for their continued support. He called the project a meaningful step toward resolving the challenges faced by landslide-prone communities in the state.
