Rinkie, who'd made her film debut with Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi in 1999 gave up film ambitions soon after, and married businessman Sameer Saran. We had caught Twinkle to ask her to share some special sister vibes with us. The beauteous writer/interior decorator/wife of bully star rose to the occasion enthusiastically.

"Once she forced me to switch seats with her on a long haul flight, using me as a human shield against a sneezing passenger with the end result that on our holiday she went shopping everyday, while I was stuck in bed with the flu!" she recalled. But of course the love came brimming through: Happy birthday for the best little sister in the world!, she posted along with this picture on social media.
A home for his Swamiji Word comes in that Yash Birla, whose companies have run into a fair amount of trouble with authorities and creditors, is said to be in negotiations with the tenant of his mansion in Juhu. "Yash wants it back but the Sindhi biz man who lives there is in no mood to move, so they're in negotiations for Yash to pay him to vacate. And why does Birla want the place so badly, we asked. Surely 40 cool ones is an astronomical figure, no matter how fabulous the mansion may be. "He wants to have his Swamiji live there," says the source. "Everyone knows that for Yash spirituality comes first." Nice!
Pao in the Big Apple The soft-spoken, former Top Chef Masters winner Floyd Cardoz is back in the news. The Indian-born chef, moved to New York in 1988 and has spent the last 28 years in Manhattan, opening a swathe of popular restaurants, including the North End Grill and Tabla and saw out the later part of his career, working for Danny Meyer's Union Square hospitality group.

Last year witnessed the chef come back to his homeland and along with his one-time apprentice, Sameer Seth, open the successful Bombay Canteen in Lower Parel. And now word comes in, that chef Cardoz has gone back to Manhattan and this week will see him open an Indian restaurant called Paowalla in SoHo. We spoke to the chef on his last visit to India, where he had informed us of his plans, and stressed that Paowalla's cuisine would focus on the food he ate while growing up in Goa and Bandra, stressing on the Portuguese influences.
The news of chef Cardoz's latest offering has travelled afar and prompted Ash Lilani, foodie and one of the big boys from the Venture Capital world (Ash has been an early investor in high value firms), to post on social media: "Chef maestro and friend Floyd Cardoz is opening his new restaurant in New York this week. Highly recommend a visit. Floyd never disappoints. I can't wait to go to New York and check it out." And if Cardoz plays his cards right &mdash; there may just be a large investment on the cards too!
A life extraordinaire From our friend, Yusuf (Yuku) Hamied, we received a short video clip that his doting family had produced, to mark the world-renowned philanthropist, scientist, billionaire Chairman of Cipla's 80th birthday this week. Redolent with archival photographs, it captures the life of a man and his era, when nation-building idealism, philanthropy and humanitarians were still respected.

Seeing the delightful montage of portraits on the Padma Bhushan awardee, and a man said to be revered like a God in Africa for his compassionate response to the AIDS crisis, we were also delighted to have another belief validated: Child is the father of man. The film shows Hamied to be a stocky high-spirited self-confident little boy full of laughter, good cheer and curiosity.
And the film ends with two pictures showing how the young boy grew up to the man whose light shone so brightly. Happy birthday, Yuku. Here's to a life extraordinaire!
The filmy 'Ji' spot Our filmy jasoos was agog with excitement. "It's confirmed," she gasped. "She actually refers to him by his first name, and that too without a ji at the end," she cackled. "Even the film's hero, one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood today, refers to him as ji."
Who? What? Where? We asked the Bollywood jasoos, a woman as colourful as the streaks on her mane. "Oof ho. Obviously the young actress from Delhi, who for God alone knows the reason, landed a dream role in the top production house's film, to be directed by its top producer director &mdash; a sure fire hit with opening day box office records guaranteed," said the FJ, adding, "And now it turns out that this producer director is completely besotted by her &mdash; and everyone knows it!!"
Hold on, we said you're assuming all this because she didn't put a ji after his name? The filmy jasoos demonstrated her displeasure at being challenged, by tossing the fringe of her colourful mane off her forehead, a gesture that is well respected in Bollywood circles &mdash; especially amongst film wives of a certain ilk &mdash; as one which brooks no dissent.
"I assume this because I have first hand info on it," said the FJ. "His new bride's been complaining to all and sundry," she said. "Even her hairdresser and driver are worried." Hmm, we said, knowing a bit about how these things unspool, you're right: if the hairdresser and driver are worried then there's certainly some dark substance in the pulse there..."
