A large group of students who had applied for the first year LLB course at a Borivli based institute were in for a rude shock after they were informed by the management that their admission is not confirmed as there are no seats left.
Students were angry about losing out on seats after paying fees to the institute.
On Tuesday, these students, along with their parents submitted a written complaint at the Borivli police station and are hoping for an FIR to be lodged against the college management at the earliest.
A huge crowd had gathered outside Nalnada College of Law, Borivali, as parents protested and demanded for their money to be returned. They also stated how the management did not release any receipts for the fees that they paid.
"The management is now wagging their hands off this issue and blaming it on outsiders. How are they trying to prove that these outsiders were conducting admissions inside their campus? This obviously was not done without their knowledge and we are sure they have our money," said one of the parents.
The Borivli police have decided to first inquire into this issue and only then register an official complaint.
Meanwhile, the college management has rubbished claims made by parents. Ajay Salunkhe, one of the trustees, claimed that one of their staff members, a civil engineer, gave the admissions to students without their knowledge.
&ldquo;The college or the management was not informed. The incident came to light only when we started our admissions from July 28 as per Mumbai University&rsquo;s instructions. These students who also filled the form in April-May with the fees were not given a receipt. When they realised that fresh students are being given receipts, they approached us. We are equally shocked,&rdquo; said Salunkhe.
The management also plans to file a cheating complaint against the staffer. He added that the seats are full and therefore the management will try to seek permission from the Bar Council to accommodate these students too.
