Suicide attempt at Supreme Court

A 61-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substances in Supreme Court campus yesterday morning.

A 61-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substances in Supreme Court campus yesterday morning.

Police said that the victim has been identified as Gulab Singh Chintamani, a resident of Maharashtra. "He was found unconscious at Supreme Court's gate number D. He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he was said to be out of danger, but still unconscious and under observation," said a police officer.

Singh came here to attend a court proceeding. He was allegedly fed up with it as he has been going through the ordeal at various courts for the last few years, according to police sources. The officer stated that Singh had worked as an inspector in Maharashtra State Electricity Board. He was suspended on charges of corruption.
