Unwind: Soothing sea-green and white interiors help you relax over food</td></tr></tbody></table>The Tasty Tangles has opened its new outlet at the UB City mall. The food at this casual dining joint of The Taste Department, the restaurant arm of Dubai-based Jumeirah Group will remind you of the street stalls selling aromatic food in cities such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Jakarta, and Bangkok. By now you must have guessed that the restaurant serves South East Asian cuisine, food, which is cooked quick and fresh over an open flame. Communal seating with friendly service allows for a unique combination of wholesome food with an easy and relaxed feel. On your table you will find paper mat, which is the liquor menu comprising apertifs, a whole range of Indian and imported spirits, exotic cocktails and mocktails. I picked one of the iced tea fusions Sweet Passion, which had mixed lychee and passion fruit syrup topped with ice tea, a perfect cooler for the day. The waitress brought in the order pad, and the order is given by simply ticking the desired dishes on the order pad, tearing it off and handing it to her. The interiors are informal yet extremely stylish. I noticed a happy group of Japanese and Chinese tourists at the next table, some fashion-conscious singles and two families enjoying a leisurely meal. The restaurant also has a kid-friendly menu with non-spicy chicken and rice in Winnie the Pooh plates. I started with Crispy Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls, which were small in size, hot from inside, almost burning my tongue on the first bite and thankfully not so greasy. The Chicken Siew Mai, which was bites of steamed dumplings with a wholesome amount of chicken. The soup that followed, the Curry Laksa with noodles, chicken and prawns, is au00a0 meal in itself. Before you head to the main course, you will be shown a noodle sample plate with different sizes and shapes of noodles to pick from yakisoba, egg noodle, vermicelli, senyai, rice stick, chowmein and udon. For the main course, I had Bakmi Goreng with chicken and prawns, which had a sweet tangy taste due to the sweet soya in it. The vegetarian Char Kway Teow, which is made from an Indonesian sauce with mushrooms was a light and healthy option which my dining companion opted for. Chef Gaurav Verma suggested I try the Lamb Rendang, which was lamb fried with an Indonesian mix of coconut, spices and chilli. I also tried the Sweet and Sour Chicken with Egg-fried Rice, which was very satiating. Authentic pan Asian restaurants expect you to share from the main plated dishes with your chopsticks. They believe in the concept of sharing on the table. Also try from the four sauce red ginger, chili sauce, Guilin chilli sauce, ginger garlic sauce and green chili vinegar (not the regular Chinese soya and vinegar that you find at other places). The desserts again are worth a try. The Sumatra Chocolate and Coconut Pot melts in your mouth. The Mango Pudding with Vanilla Ice-Cream is a perfect dessert for the summer.
