The second pack of Classic Milds spans a century and features works that range from tragic to comic

When Ibid Productions came out with Classic Milds in March this year, there was much curiosity about it, thanks to its perplexing title. Turned out that the title, inspired by a popular cigarette brand, actually referred to short plays by respected playwrights.

In its second season, you can expect short 10 to 15-minute pieces written by F Scott Fitzgerald, Lucille Fletcher, Eugene O'Neill, Neil Simon and Alfred Sutro. "For season two, we have tried to choose pieces that are in contrast to what we did last time," says Akarsh Khurana who has directed Fitzgerald's Porcelain and Pink and is hosting the show too. "Classic Milds is an assortment of accessible pieces that introduce you to some of the best classic works ever written."

Young director, Hussain Dalal, also acts in the tragedy he has chosen to present -- Thirst, by American dramatist Eugene O'Neill. "The play speaks volumes about how we, as humans, are and how doubt and conspiracy can terribly complicate matters," he says.

Dark pieces like these will be superimposed by other lighter pieces, making sure the evening is a m ufffdlange of varied emotions and perspectives. Some shorts might leave you with a feeling of pathos, but others, the group promises, will be delightfully mild.
