A one-plate meal, it's what most football players would eat before a major match back in the '60s. In fact, that was their pre-match meal until recent health researches played party pooper. It still remains one of the favourite items on Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo's list. He likes a medium-rare steak with French Fries. And since you aren't out there playing the match, who's to stop you from indulging in a mid-match steak meal? One variety is also stuffed with gorgonzola (an Italian blue cheese)," he says. The chef believes in the adage that a restaurant is judged by its steak. "And more often than not, we've scored in that department," he smiles. You won't be compelled to order a red wine along with your steak, here at Indigo. "If you like a white wine, you ought to drink a white with your steak. No rules," he says. Irfan recalls the best steak he's ever eaten in a restaurant in Brussels. "It was perfection." "We use a premium cut from the Angus cow, the most superior cattle, when it comes to beef. Its marbelling and intramuscular fat make it super tender and tasty," says executive chef Manu Chandra. While the meat you dig into here is ultra-fancy, the marinade is surprisingly simple: salt, pepper and olive oil. Reason? Chef Chandra would rather let the natural flavour of the meat be. The beef is chargrilled, made crusty and served with an Au poivre Sauce, along with a whole head of roasted garlic. He loathes an overcooked steak. "An animal has just lost its life. You ought to respect the meat, appreciate it, and cook it just enough. Otherwise, you destroy everything it was raised for," he says. Of course, your steak comes in much later ufffd during meal-times. While their cakes and chocolates are popular, the grilled steaks are worth a try too, and you can have them packed to go home. So if you are down and out but still want a hearty meaty meal, here's where you ought to go. The spicy Goan sauce is what counts here. Try the Pound Steak; it's their best, mixed with mushrooms and pepper. You'll have to make do without the wine, though. They don't serve alcohol, and you'll have to hurry so that the guests waiting in line on a crowded street outside have their fill too.
