Timeline: Sanjay Dutt's 1993 Mumbai blasts trial trail

We trace back the series of events that eventually culminated in the Bollywood star's 3-and-half year imprisonment
January 1993: Film producer Hanif Kadawalla and his business partner Samir Hingora, associates of Anees Ibrahim who is the brother of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, deliver an AK-56 rifle and pistol to actor Sanjay Dutt at his residence in Bandra. The actor, later in his statement, had said that he acquired the weapons for self-defence.
March 12, 1993: A series ofu00a013 bomb blasts rock the city, in the aftermath of the post-Babri Masjid demolition riots, killing 257 people and injuring 713. Dutt was at the time shooting for the movie ‘Aatish’ in Mauritius.
