TAKING a cue from the recent MiD DAY campaign against autorickshaw drivers refusing fares, the traffic police conducted a surprise check at Shivajinagar yesterday.

Thirteen drivers were booked and their licences suspended.u00a0 Deputyu00a0 Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil attributed their action to the MiD DAY campaign.

"We are acting against errant auto drivers, an initiative successfully undertaken by MiD DAY," said Patil.
During the MiD Day campaign, the traffic police booked over 450 rickshaw drivers and Rs 6,000 collected as penalty.

Passenger cell
THE Traffic police will set up a special cell to register complaints from rickshaw passengers from next month. "The new cell is expected to start within 15 days," said DCP Manoj Patil.
