Tragic accident on Mumbai Pune highway kills IT officer returning from raids

An I-T officer died on Thursday when a vehicle carrying three of 12 Income Tax officers heading back to Pune after raids in Talegaon, met with an accident on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. The deceased I-T officer has been identified as Abhishek Anil Tyagi, 28, from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The others in the vehicle who were injured were Anand Upadhyay, 38, and Krishnakumar alias K K Mishra, 33. The injured are undergoing treatment at Ruby hospital in Hinjewadi. Due to the mishap, traffic on the old Mumbai-Pune highway was affected, and was brought under control after five hours.
Tyagi had completed a course in chemical engineering from Thappar University Patiala, and was selected as an I-T officer and initially appointed in a Mumbai branch in October 2014. In February this year he was transferred to the Pune branch. Upadhyay is Deputy Director of I-T investigation and Mishra is an ITO.
