Mumbai showed its best and worst faces on Saturday as two newborn babies were found abandoned in different parts of the city. Pic/Suresh KK In the first case early yesterday morning, an abandoned day-old baby boy was brought to the Sion Hospital by officers of the RCF police station at 7:45 am. According to the cops, they received an SOS at 6.30 am from a Chembur resident stating that a baby had been left in front of a temple. The police rushed to the spot at Bharat Nagar and found the child wrapped in a blanket in front of the temple. u00a0Rahul Pawar, a police officer with the RCF police station said, &ldquo;We immediately took the baby to the hospital. He seemed unharmed but there was always the possibility of someone else finding the baby and taking it away.&rdquo; According to him, the baby seemed to be healthy, but was crying. Till reports last came in, the baby boy was doing well under care of doctors at Sion Hospital. Speaking to SUNDAY MiD DAY, Dr Kuldeep Gaikwad from Sion Hospital said, &ldquo;The baby is healthy; however, we are yet to ascertain his identity and no one has come to claim him.&rdquo; Dumped in a bin Meanwhile in another shocker, a baby boy was found abandoned in a garbage bin inside a small lane near RAK Road in Wadala. According to an officer from RAK Marg police station, they received a call about an abandoned baby at 11:30 am on June 8. &ldquo;As soon as we received the call, we sent a team to retrieve the baby from the bin and rushed the child to KEM hospital. Unfortunately, he was found to be dead.&rdquo; No injury marks were found on the child, though cops quoted that hospital sources had suggested that it could a premature baby, abandoned by its parents.
