Srinagar: Two police personnel were killed yesterday in a militant attack on a patrol party in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, police said.
Militants opened firing on the patrol party at Kulgam town this afternoon, resulting in the death of two cops, a police official said. The slain cops have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad and Jalaluddin Ahmad, the official added. &lsquo;Environment not conducive&rsquo;
The government yesterday said there have been a series of cross border terror attacks from Pakistan controlled territories across the LoC recently which has created an environment not conducive for holding a meaningful dialogue.
Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh in Rajya Sabha also said that Pathankot Air Base terror attack mounted from Pakistan and the subsequent intensification of anti-India cross-border terrorism including Poonch and Uri strikes have "eroded" the necessary environment free from terror and violence.
&lsquo;Ready for talks but...&rsquo; Pakistan is ready for a dialogue with India on the condition that Kashmir dispute is part of it, PM&rsquo;s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said yesterday. &ldquo;We are ready for dialogue with India on the condition that Kashmir dispute is also included in it,&rdquo; he said.
