Two people were injured after an air-conditioner compressor exploded during maintenance work at a company in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Tuesday, officials said.
According to the news agency PTI, the incident took place around 3.40 pm at a firm located in the Boisar MIDC area, said Vivekanand Kadam, chief of the Palghar disaster management cell.
Technicians Atiq Khan and Wasim Salmani were conducting annual servicing of the air-conditioning units when one of the compressors exploded due to excessive gas pressure, he added.
According to PTI, both the technicians sustained 45–50 per cent burn injuries and were first taken to a private hospital in Boisar before being shifted to a hospital in Mumbai for further treatment.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Two dead after bus catches fire following cylinder blast in Jaipur
Two people died after a blast occurred on a bus carrying labourers in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Tuesday.
Speaking to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa confirmed the incident. He said that a fire broke out on a bus coming from another state following a cylinder blast. The bus was reportedly carrying two LPG cylinders, one of which exploded as the vehicle passed under a high-tension wire.
Bairwa added that the injured have been admitted to hospital and that an investigation into the matter is underway.
"A fire broke out in a bus filled with labourers coming from another state. It is being said that there were two LPG cylinders and a blast took place in one of them. We have been informed that the bus was crossing under a high-tension wire when the incident occurred. Two people have lost their lives in the incident, and the injured have been shifted to a hospital. An investigation is being conducted," Bairwa told ANI.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also condoled the incident, stating that authorities concerned have been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
"The news of loss of lives in the bus accident that occurred in Manoharpur, Jaipur, is extremely heartbreaking. The concerned authorities have been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured. I pray to the Lord that the departed souls be granted a place at His holy feet and that the injured be blessed with a speedy recovery," Sharma wrote on X.
