Guwahati: ULFA leader Golap Baruah alias Anup&nbsp;Chetia was today remanded in 14 days judicial custody by the&nbsp;Special Judicial Magistrate CBI, Assam, at the end of his&nbsp;five-day CBI custody.
Chetia's lawyer Bijon Mahajan told reporters in the court&nbsp;premises that the ULFA leader was sent to judicial custody and&nbsp;will be produced before court on December 5.
He will be lodged in Guwahati Central Jail, Mahajan said.&nbsp;
48-year-old Chetia was arrested by CBI under RC (Regular&nbsp;Case) No. 4(S)/1988 in connection with a murder in Golaghat&nbsp;(Assam).
He was produced in the SJM CBI Court on November 18 which&nbsp;remanded him in CBI custody for five days. At the end of the&nbsp;CBI remand, Chetia was produced before the court today amidst&nbsp;tight security.
The ULFA general Secretary was brought to Guwahati this&nbsp;morning reportedly from Delhi and was directly taken from the&nbsp;airport here to Assam Police Special Branch headquarters at&nbsp;Kahilipara before being produced in the court at 4 PM.&nbsp;
After he was handed over to India by Bangladesh and&nbsp;brought to Delhi on November 11, Chetia was arrested the next&nbsp;day by CBI which took a six-day transit remand there, the&nbsp;lawyer said.
At the end of the transit remand, CBI had brought Chetia&nbsp;to Guwahati in a special aircraft on November 18 and produced&nbsp;him in the court here the same day.
