Berhampur (Odisha): An undertrial prisoner, lodged in Bhanjanagar sub-jail in Ganjam district, was allegedly running an extortion racket from the prison.
The incident came to the fore when police on Wednesday arrested four teenagers, who had allegedly collected Rs 2,000 from a shopowner at Kullad under Bhanjanagar police limits. "The children aged between 16 and 17 years belong to Bhanjanagar. On Monday, they collected Rs 2,000 from Santosh Patra on the direction of the undertrial prisoner, Siba Jena. They had earlier collected Rs 1,500 from another person," said Inspector In-Charge of Bhanjanagar police station A K Sahu.
