Ahead of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's address on the Union Budget 2018-19, the market indices opened higher in the morning trade.
The Sensex opened 151.43 points higher at 36,179.18, while NSE&iquest;s Nifty was at 11,072.85 points.
Top gainers in the morning trade were L&amp;T and M&amp;M, while Tata Steel, Infosys, Vedanta and Bharti Infratel incurred losses.
Meanwhile, the rupee opened at 63.68 for one dollar.
On a related note, the Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at 11 a.m., after a cabinet meeting.
This will be the last full-fledged budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and the first post the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
