A day after Pune got its first woman police commissioner, Meera Chadha Borwankar, it also recorded another crime against a woman. Darshana Devidas Tongare, a trainee at IBM, died after she was allegedly assaulted with a sharp weapon by an unidentified person at Bavdhan on Friday night.
Bitter love possible cause
The police suspect the murder to be the result of a bitter love affair as the victim's cell phone, purse and other valuables were untouched. Important leads have also been received through messages and calls made to her cell phone, and a team has been sent to Chiplun in search of the suspect.
