Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has quashed setting up of four thermal power plants of over 1700 MW capacity saying the companies were lagging far behind in completing the projects despite being given two extensions.

"UPERC has quashed setting up of four thermal power plants totalling 1760 MW capacity as the plants were nowhere
near completion despite two extensions", a UPERC official said here today. He said every aspect of the project was taken into account before arriving at the decision.
