Deadly storm batters Uttar Pradesh, leaving 89 dead and dozens injured

At least 89 people were killed and more than 50 people were injured after a strong storm and heavy rain pounded several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, uprooting trees and electric poles and damaging houses, according to the Relief Commissioner’s office.
The Relief Commissioner added that continuous monitoring is being conducted, and the 24-hour Integrated Control and Command Centre remains fully operational. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the loss of lives and damage caused and directed officials to ensure relief reaches the affected families within 24 hours.
