Although, initially it was decided that three plays would be staged over a two-hour duration, the group decided to add one more skit, which will be staged for a time span of 12 minutes. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/apr/Vashi-Fine-Arts.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 375px;" /> A play by Vashi Fine Arts Society in progress VFAS is known for hosting Tamil dramas in Navi Mumbai in the months of April, and October every year. While during the month of April they invite local troupes from the city, in October a drama troupe from South India comes to the city to perform. This time the city-based Shanmukhananda theatre group will present the plays. The four plays, which would be performed, include Ettu Potta Ticket, Julius Caesar Who Never Was, Paattu Paada Vaarihala and Katharikkaikku Je! Talking to MiD DAY, Kannan Iyer, treasurer of VFAS, said, &ldquo;Our members love watching such dramas but lighter topics are appreciated more than skits on heavy subjects. Besides, this group is known to give children a lot of opportunity to perform. Therefore, there would be two plays amongst the four that would be performed completely by children while the remaining two would have a mix of adults and children in the cast.&rdquo; Ettu Potta Ticket is a light comedy based on situations we face everyday in our life, which would be staged for 45 minutes. Children would be seen enacting Julius Caesar Who Never Was. It is a light entertainment without any heavy theme or message, and will be staged for about half an hour. Katharikkaikku Je! has a women-oriented theme which will be interesting for men as well, as it deals with the controversial vegetable called the eggplant. This play will run for about 12 minutes. Finally, Paattu Paada Vaarihala is going to be staged by children. Unlike the above three skits, this one gives entertainment and food for thought. The theme deals with the problems faced by children, parents and teachers in the field of education, with an emphasis on the importance of music in our lives. None of the skits require any elaborate stage settings, makeup or costume as the theme and the dialogues are by themselves said to have enough strength to connect with the audiences.
