Website with MT-CET results crashes after two lakh hits

In yet another example highlighting state authoritiesrsquo incompetence regarding the web lakhs of Std XII students across the state couldnrsquot view their online scores in the EngineeringPharmacy Common Entrance Test MTCET that were supposed to be released yesterday morning after the website crashed following over 2 lakh hits The Directorate of Technical Education DTE of Maharashtra uploaded the MTCET result on its website at midnight on Tuesday The official timing of the online results was 11 am yesterday However after getting around 2 lakh hits in the morning the DTE server crashed and the situation remained unchanged till five in the evening Pranav Manke a student said ldquoI first tried to open the DTE website at 11 am and tried many times after that as well The website just doesnrsquot open Its really frustratingrdquo Interestingly the website was accessible overseas Those having their friends and relatives abroad came to know of their results from them Aakash Kohli a Std XII student of MMCC College who scored 160 marks got his result from his classmate Salil Bhagwat who is currently in the United Kingdom UK ldquoI got a call from Salil asking about my CET score I was surprised how he accessed the website when its not operating But he told that the DTE site was operational in the UK and thatrsquos how he told me my resultrdquo shared a happy Aakash On the other hand DTE officials were clueless regarding the exact reason behind the crash When contacted the system manager of DTE N B Patil who was in Mumbai said ldquoThe problem in the website did not occur due to a server crash We are still finding the exact cause Meanwhile we have attached a dedicated server and the website restarted around 445 pmrdquo When asked how the site was accessible abroad he said ldquoThere are various zones If the DNS connectivity of the website is good the site is accessible On the other hand due to heavy traffic in the morning some problem occurred in a couple of servers and the website became inaccessible We had set six serversrdquo When questioned about lack of alternate options he said ldquoThis is not the first time we have declared CET results The exact technical reason behind todayrsquos situation is still unknownrdquo Fall in numbers According to experts there is an acute decrease in students clearing the MTCET this year It is mainly due to revised syllabus of Std XII ldquoIn todayrsquos CET result students having scores above 180 have drastically decreased as compared to last year In my class the topper has scored 187 marks this yearrdquo said Durgesh Mangeshkar Managing Director of IITians Prashikshan Kendra Top story Across the state a total of 280585 students appeared for MTCET held on May 16 Out of them a total of 31 students scored 190 or above 232 students scored between 170 to 189 in the state and 1292 students scored between 160 and 179 From the city a total of 56005 students appeared for MTCET and a total of 5732 students scored above 100 Anuja Golecha of P Jog Junior College in city has topped MTCET in Pune division by scoring 192 marks in the exam ldquoI am extremely happy The score will definitely fulfil my dream of securing admission in College of Engineering Pune CoEP I want to pursue engineering in computer science branchrdquo said Golecha She was studying at Devdhar Classes for CET preparations SSC results Here is good news for over 16 lakh students waiting for Std X results across the state The online result will be declared on Friday tomorrow Students can access their online result after 1 pm on httpmahresultnicin msbshseacin mhsscacin sscresultmkclorg or rediffcomexams ldquoCompared to last year we are declaring SSC results earlier by almost a week So it will definitely help junior colleges to complete Std XI admissions in timerdquo said Sarjerao Jadhav Chairperson of MSBSHSEu00a0
