THE All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB), which had been criticising the US-Israel attacks on Shia-majority Iran, welcomed the ceasefire on Wednesday, stating that Iran is now a “superpower”. Since the beginning of the war, AISPLB had been protesting against attacks on Iran, particularly on the assassination of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Speaking with mid-day, AISPLB Board Secretary Maulana Yasub Abbas said, “US President Donald Trump gave a deadline to Iran and then came a ceasefire. This shows Iran is not Venezuela or just another country that will seize before the two world superpowers — the US and Israel. With this ceasefire announcement, Iran is now a ‘superpower’ that did not bow down to attacks and threats from the US and Israel.”
