New Bengal CM to take oath on Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday on May 9: BJP state chief Samik Bhattacharya

The BJP-led government in West Bengal will take oath on May 9 (Saturday) on the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Party chief Samik Bhattacharya called it a historic day for the state and appealed for responsible celebrations after the massive 2026 election victory

The newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in West Bengal will take oath on Saturday, May 9, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya said on Tuesday.

"The Prime Minister announced yesterday that on 25th Baisakh, that is May 9, Rabindranath Tagore's birthday, this government will take the oath," Bhattacharya told ANI, terming the moment historic for the state.
