The family wants police to conduct thorough investigations to find out what or who forced Jiah to hang herself by the ceiling fan in her Juhu residence. A couple of days after her death, her sister found a six-page letter from her bedside table, which was handed over to the cops on Saturday and is being examined by them. Her family said that there were many indications in Jiah’s letter about her difficult relationship, but it hasn’t been established whether the letter was addressed to her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi. Jiah’s family, however, claims that the envelope containing the letter had Sooraj’s name on it. But the pace at which the police are investigating the case has been slow and its method shoddy, the kin allege. Jiah’s mother Rabia and sister Kavita have recorded their statements with the police and told the officers all they knew of her relationship with Sooraj. “We are not happy with the police investigations in my sister’s suicide case. What are the police officers doing? I don’t know,” said Kavita. Family members said that the last time they spoke to Jiah, she seemed happy as she had got a few offers for films. A close relative said the police could find out everything from the letter. “What kind of forensic tests do the police want to conduct? The contents of the letter are clear enough,” said the relative. Said an officer from Juhu police station, “We are taking legal opinion in this suicide case.”The Juhu police officers said that so far they have recorded statements of eight people, including that of Sooraj. The officers said they have the text messages and records of phone calls exchanged between Jiah and Sooraj minutes before she hanged herself on June 3, her social network conversations, and now the extensive letter. Police are waiting for the forensic report to confirm Jiah’s handwriting, after which they will collate the body of evidences and see if the case can be changed from one of accidental death to abetment to suicide.
