The visually impaired student died on Tuesday night and was in the second year of BA Hindi (Hons) course. Kumar was fond of singing and used to carry a recorder to the lectures, which helped him recollect the important notes whenever he wanted. During investigation, the officers found the recorder and the letter, which might have been written prior to Kumar's death.u00a0 "Mukesh had written three names in the letter and all are supposed to be the name of girls. He always carried his recorder along with him and this might give more clues in solving the case," said Anurag, president, Hans Raj College. Though police registered the case of murder on Wednesday, the friends of Kumar are claiming it to be a suicide. According to his close friends, Kumar was in love with a girl whom he helped her in studies but the girl used to like some other guy in the same college. The police are not ruling out this angle and are investigating if the girl was the reason behind this whole case. "We are awaiting for the postmortem report to ascertain facts but this case might be a murder because Kumar's hands were tightly tied with a rope in the front," said DCP (north) Sagarpreet Hooda. Safety checks The mysterious death of the blind student has once again raised questions about the security checks on campus of various college hostels. "Anyone can walk-in our hostel during the day and there is no one to do the verification. Sometimes people from outside even come and stay at night. The college authority must take serious steps to avoid such incidents in future," said Kirori Mal College student, wishing anonymity. A Ramjas College hostel student shares the same experience. "Our college hostel is no different. Outsiders keep flocking the hostel without restrictions. I hope this incident rings a bell for authorities."
