Who's the boss?

Aamir Khan’s popular television show managed to make domestic violence a trending topic for much of the day. Sophie Choudry tweeted: ‘When will men stop believing they own women? Domestic violence not only hurts physically, it kills self-worth too. Women must not accept this!’ Aditi Chawla added: ‘Behind closed doors of homes all across our country, people are being tortured, beaten and killed.’ Purba Ray came up with this: I regularly beat my husband. But only in a game of Scrabble.’ According to Rofl Indian, ‘Aamir Khan should have brought Meira Kumar and scolded her for always smiling meekly in reaction to domestic violence.’ And from AmreekanDesi: ‘Ironical that on a day Aamir Khan is talking about domestic violence, my wife made me clean all the fans in the house.’

On top again
Saina Nehwal was a trending topic for all the right reasons after winning her third Indonesian Open title. Journalist Sucheta Dalal tweeted: ‘Good for her. While others bicker, preen and collect fat cheques, she steadily keeps winning for India!’ Derek O’Brien added: ‘Dear Saina, now go take a 3-day holiday on the beaches of Bali. Bravo!’ And from Sidin Vadukut: ‘Congratulations. Splendid win indeed. Less talk more work is the secret of her energy.’

Down the ladder
A jury convicted Indian American Rajat Gupta of insider trading after a month-long trial and hours of deliberation. Ramesh Srivats tweeted: ‘When Rajat Gupta was successful, it was because he was Rajat Gupta. When he turned out to be corrupt, it is because he is Indian?’ The UnReal Times added: ‘Rajat Gupta may face 25 years in prison; in contrast, Raja will face (at least) 25 years of trial.’

The last word
From American reality TV star Kim Kardashian: ‘Even if your heart leads you in the wrong direction sometimes, your internal GPS will take you where you’re meant to be in the end!'
