A 23-year-old girl has accused her fiance of rape after he entered into a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage, but then refused to wed her citing her being ‘mangalik’ as the reason. The two were engaged and their marriage date was fixed for November 17.

The 30-year-old man was arrested by Samarth police and was remanded in magistrate custody by a court yesterday. The accused, identified as Pramod Vasant Shinde, a resident of Model Colony in Gokhalenagar, works with a well-known builder from the city, while the woman is an employee of a private company, said PSI Devdutt Shirke from Samarth police station.
