In a case involving an online e-commerce company, an Oshiwara-based businesswoman complained to Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Cyber Crime Cell alleging that the company employees &lsquo;hypnotised&rsquo; her into becoming a member of the firm and threatened her with dire consequences when she did not pay the membership fee. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/apr/Parmeet-Kaur-Anand.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 332px;" /> Parmeet Kaur Anand alleged that the company employees &lsquo;hypnotised&rsquo; her into becoming a member. Pic/Kiran Bhalerao In the complaint dated April 23 (a copy of which is with MiD DAY) Parmeet Kaur Anand, who runs two dhabas in Adarsh Nagar, Andheri (West), claimed that the two employees of QNet India Mercilla Dutta and Navjyot often visited her eateries for meals. A month ago, they introduced themselves as representatives of the online firm and began to encourage her to join their company and benefit from it. They also showed her a product called &lsquo;bio-disc&rsquo;, claiming it had healing properties and could transform the molecular structure of water, which helped in curing terminal diseases like cancer, diabetes etc. Anand got interested as her elder son was suffering from multiple health problems. She felt compelled to listen to them and they convinced her to attend seminars. The accused also succeeded in getting a cheque of Rs 31,500 from her as membership fee. According to Anand, they also asked her to keep away from her husband and other relatives and to not talk about her interactions with the firm. As a result, she began sleeping on the floor and cut down on interactions with her family members. Curious about this sudden change in her behaviour, Anand&rsquo;s husband Gurupreet Singh Anand began keeping tabs on her. He found out that she didn&rsquo;t stay at the eateries and a chunk of money had also gone missing. When he confronted her, she confessed to everything. &ldquo;A week later, my wife told me about QNet India Company. Having an idea about the firm, I rushed to stop the payment. Since then we are getting threat calls. They are calling, sending SMSes, visiting our eateries and picking fights,&rdquo; said Gurupreet. The Other Side &ldquo;Qnet India is a Hong Kong-based company. I don&rsquo;t care about Anand&rsquo;s police complaint. We never forced her to join our company. Our cheque bounced as she stopped its processing. We never threatened her but called her and met her regarding the payment. All our activities are legal,&rdquo; said Mercilla Dutta, CEO of Qnet India.u00a0
