The much-awaited double-decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University Junction was inaugurated on Wednesday evening by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The flyover, built to provide a long-term solution to heavy traffic congestion in the busy area and the Ganeshkhind Road stretch, was formally opened for vehicular movement after the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr Yogesh Mhase said that traffic movement from Aundh to Shivajinagar will now be smoother as one arm of the flyover has been opened for use. The remaining ramps towards Baner and Pashan are expected to be completed by October 2025.
