Every week, this newspaper showcases citizen grievances and asks for answers from those accountable. Most of those complaints centre around infrastructure, which is roads, pavements, bridges, skywalks and some closed toilet blocks at times, awaiting reopening.

We think there is one more vital piece in the infra canvas that needs attention across Mumbai. That is staircases at various infrastructure projects and public facilities. These can be at various gates, even private infra like bank buildings, on station platforms, on bridges, at Metro stations, on the few skywalks we have so many amenities have staircases. The first is to see that the railings are strong and secure. At times, people will hold a railing or bannister, and it will wobble, throwing them off-balance, and they can fall if they have put weight on the railing, thinking it will support them, as that is what it is there for.
