At least 43 students of an engineering college in Guwahati, Assam, fell ill after consuming contaminated water from a hostel tank in which, of all things, a monkey was found dead.

The incident, highlighted across news media, said a few students of a hostel of the college complained of a foul smell in the water, vomiting and stomach ache. The monkey reportedly drowned in the water tank of the hostel a few days earlier. Reports stated that there is a monkey problem as a result of a hill located behind and one student was bitten by a monkey.
