Following the Uri terrorist attack, and now, the surgical strikes by the Indian Army, there have been reactions from all quarters. Now, more than ever, is the time to walk the thin line between nationalism and jingoism. While the former is rousing, patriotic and stirring, the latter is ugly and illogical.
A lot of the anger and bitter comments have emanated from Pakistan’s side, but closer home, too, there has been ire and anger and anti-Pak sentiment. Social media has been a fertile platform for some biting humour. As the home of Bollywood, Mumbai has been keenly following the Pak artistes’ debate. Now, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) has banned Pak actors from the industry, cleaving opinion further.
