This paper highlighted the unveiling of a pedestrian-friendly Kala Ghoda district initiative on Tuesday morning. A lane from the defunct Rhythmic house and adjoining arterial by lanes in the South Mumbai hub, near Jehangir Art Gallery. will become pedestrian-centric on weekend evenings, with no entry for vehicles for a couple of hours.
The precinct was artsy and upscale, and there was an accent on culture and tradition. Outdoor dining is planned for the inauguration; high tables, high chairs and bar stools gave total Europe vibes. The walkway, too, was paved over with stone giving it a cobblestone feel. One could literally imagine one was in Europe, such was the charming atmosphere on unveiling day. We also saw three art installations that lent more character to the initiative and wall murals that were all eye-catching.
