<p>Trust <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/cjp-protest-from-reels-to-rallies-has-gen-z-finally-entered-india-political-arena-political-experts-from-mumbai-shed-light-23642073" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">GenZ </a>to think of ideas that have been left in the dust. Cathedral and John Connon student Aarush Gupta turned his annoyance about wasted food material at restaurants into an invention, PeelWorks, to help farmers. &ldquo;I always found it bothersome that so much peels and vegetable skins were wasted. I created a simple rotating drum that, after appropriate treatment of the waste, dices them. You have to rotate it by a crank lever, and it turns into manure or cattle feed,&rdquo; the 17-year-old shared.</p>

<p>Even as the preparations for the upcoming <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sunday-mid-day/article/this-lavani-performance-at-prithvi-theatre-in-juhu-celebrates-the-maharashtrian-folk-form-and-queer-love-23568980" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Lavani Festival at Prithvi Theatre</a> picks up pace, theatremaker Bhushan Korgaonkar has reasons to celebrate. The author&rsquo;s book, Sangeet Bari (Rajhans Prakashan) has now entered its third reprint in 12 years. The non-fiction documents of the lives of lavani performers from theatre spaces known as &lsquo;sangeet baris&rsquo;.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The Marathi publication industry goes by 1000 books for every print run. The first run sold out within a year [in 2014],&rdquo; Korgaonkar revealed. As patrons walk into Prithvi Theatre on August 21, they will have a chance to read about the nature and journey of an original art form from Maharashtra.</p>

<p>Raell Padamsee answered this diarist&rsquo;s phone call with a cheery greeting yesterday. And why wouldn&rsquo;t she? Three months of efforts and rehearsals with her CREATE Foundation came to fruition over the past weekend in Bandra, when nearly 150 senior citizens presented a special showcase of theatre, art, music, and dance.</p>

<p>Aptly titled CREATE&rsquo;s Got Talent, the stage was taken over by seniors from the Dignity Foundation&rsquo;s centres in Worli, Byculla and Mazgaon. &ldquo;Some of them had never held a paintbrush, or taken the stage before. You can imagine how fulfilling it was to see them thrive onstage,&rdquo; Padamsee shared with us. The ace theatremaker wasn&rsquo;t the only one in awe of the showstoppers, we learnt. Sabira Merchant and Nisha JamVwal were among those who cheered them on.&nbsp;<br />Count us in.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Booked on the local</h2>

<p>Four years of commute from Andheri shaped author Radhika Agarwal&rsquo;s idea of Mumbai. &ldquo;It is only as a tourist that I can enjoy the city,&rdquo; the Thailand-based author shared. And so, she left her own little gift to the metropolis in the form of a signed book in a Churchgate train. &ldquo;I was on a book tour of my title, Not Safe for Work (HarperCollins), which begins in a local train. It felt apt,&rdquo; she said.</p>
